I was young and I had no idea what to do. I knew I wanted more than what I was doing, and every answer I found was either a course someone wanted to sell me or advice so general it was useless. Nobody sat down and told me the truth about what it would take.
What I needed was one person to say: here is the job, here is the exact thing standing between you and it, here is what it costs, and here is whether it is honestly worth doing. That person did not exist for me.
Then I started paying attention and realised how many people are in the same place. The thirty four year old changing industries. The parent going back after six years out. The school leaver choosing subjects for a career nobody has explained to them. All of them capable, all of them willing, and all of them stuck for the same reason: nobody has told them the truth.
That is what I want JOBLINKD to be. The person who tells you the truth about what it takes, even when the truth is that a course is not worth doing. Everyone deserves to know what stands between them and the work they want, and nobody should have to pay to find out.
