Up to $10,000 is available to Australian businesses that hire eligible people. Most employers never find out until it is too late to claim. Four questions, about thirty seconds.
A wage subsidy agreement has to be approved within twenty eight days of the person starting work. Miss that and the money is gone, even if you were eligible for every dollar of it.
The arrangement also needs to be in place before they start in most cases. That is the single most common reason employers lose a subsidy they qualified for.
The money comes from the Australian Government, and it is paid through a contracted employment services provider. They write the agreement, you approve it in your Workforce Australia Online for Businesses account, and they reimburse you against your payroll.
The step that matters is talking to a provider before you make the offer. If you already work with one, ring them. If you do not, the Workforce Australia site will point you to the nearest.
The figures above come from the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. Amounts and eligibility change, so check dewr.gov.au before you rely on anything here.
