What a qualification is actually worth

Every course site tells you what a course costs. None of them tell you how many Brisbane jobs it opens, or what those jobs pay. This does.

The index

Roles open right now

Counted from live Brisbane advertisements. A qualification needs at least three matching roles to appear, because fewer than that is noise rather than a market.

How to read it

What each column means

  • Roles open. Live Brisbane advertisements that name this qualification or ask for what it teaches. It moves week to week.
  • Typical pay. The midpoint of the advertised range, averaged. Advertised pay is not always what is offered, so treat it as a guide.
  • Course cost. The average across providers who teach it. The spread between the cheapest and dearest is often thousands.
  • Pay back. How many months of the typical salary it takes to cover the course. It ignores tax, living costs and whether you get the job, so it is a rough comparison rather than a promise.

Nothing here is modelled or estimated. If we cannot count it from real advertisements, it is not shown.

Quote them if they are useful

Journalists, providers, career advisers and anybody else are welcome to cite this. Say where it came from and the date you took it, because the numbers change.
