How to become a heavy vehicle driver in Brisbane

The qualification, the timeframe, and what the work pays. If a number changes, we change it.

HR or HC licence, plus a fatigue management course

That is what most Brisbane employers ask for. It takes 2 to 8 weeks depending on the provider and how you study.

This is a licence rather than a certificate, and it is one of the fastest routes to a higher wage.

What it is like here

Brisbane specifically

The work here splits between local runs out of the port and Acacia Ridge, and longer hauls north. Local pays less but you sleep at home, and most people start there before deciding whether they want the distance work.

Before you enrol

Three things worth asking

  • Ask how many hours of actual driving are included, not what is on the schedule.
  • Ask whether they use the same truck class you will be licensed for.
  • Ask whether fatigue management is bundled, because you will need it.

We will ask all of that for you. Start with the free check.
